Bike engined mini
Iv been looking at the Zcars bike engined mini. Thay look pretty smart I was wondering if anyone on here was building one or have looked into them
etc?

Is that the one where they supply a roll cage type arrangement that the engine and drive train bolt in to? Had a good look at that at Stoneleigh -
interesting concept!
Donut may be the man to talk to about Mini's. I don't think he has any direct experience of bike powered ones, but he may know someone
that does!

Try "Dreckly" on here he does a space framed mini which i understand can take a bike motor

He admits: "there isn't much zcars build info on there yet, I'm just taking things apart at the moment." but I'm sure
he'll update it as he builds.

Bill Sollis who is 3 times Mini Miglia champion tested loads of mini's for a DVD which i have. He drove the Z cars mini and said when he got out
"That's the best f***** thing i have ever driven" or words to that effect!!!
You can make these mini's very light, about 400kg or less!!! and they look great fun!

All of the rear floor and seat is removed plus the engine/gearbox which weighs shed loads. I beleive there are space frame front subframes to replace
the mini one which will lighten things a bit too. Light weight race seats, bike dash etc etc, it don't take long!!

how would you get on with emisions at mot time?
as far as i can see you will need at cat etc if you have a modern bike engine...
good thing is though buy an old mini for the logbook.. then use a brand new shell ...that's what i'm thinking of for me next
project...

Busa Rush - you've gotta finish your present project first - and no stuffing it on the first hill-climb just so you can use the engine in a
Z-car....

Erm...no idea of cost but i would estimate about 8K minimum, just under 5k for the roll cage kit, 2k for the engine and all the bits (fuel tank, rad
etc) which leaves 1k for paint and sundries. Decent job, probably looking at about 10-12k if you go for carbon front end, roof and doors plus plastic
windows etc!!

Convertible?
Do you know of any specialist which makes a standard Mini convertible? I've seen only one in the flesh here in Spain some years ago and it
looked really nice with a soft top. It also had wider wheel arches.
