Zetec Clutch

Can anybody measure the clutch plate centre hole.

I have a mondeo drive plate (that whats ment to be in the box) but the input shaft in the type 9 is to big for the hole.

Is the mondeo and escort zetec clutch plate different sizes.

The input shaft is 25mm but the plate is 19mm for some reason.

I was wondering has the wrong plate been put in the box.

Something's not right. I have a 1.6 / 1.8 mondeo plate and cover (using escort 1.8 flywheel) with a 1.6 capri release bearing. The standard sierra box fitted just fine. Either you have the wrong clutch components or the gearbox is not what you think it is.

Ive checked my shaft (sound rude) and its 26x23.

So it looks like my drive plate is wrong (good old ebay)

The input shaft on a type 9 or an mt75 type box is 1" 23 splines.

The Zetec had 2 differant manual gearboxes you have the one from the lower power model. The higher power model had the mtx75 gearbox which also has the 1" 23 spline shaft.

I was lucky I picked up an escort 130 spec fly wheel which has a 240mm clutch plate with the 1" 23 splines.
All I needed was a standard clutch and a modded (westfield)release bearing for the mt75 box.

You should be able to use the clutch plate from the 2l dohc which has a 215mm plate with 1"23 spline..

Your standard plate is 220mm.

I think all the info is correct ,but I often am wrong.

regards warren
