Picking out a nose- and a foam model

After reading and seeing how clay modeling should be done, I saw the kids plasticine and finally visualized the front I had drawn out for my car. I think I like it and it looks like it would be makable with my limited skills. I have been trying to come up with something that will compliment the rounded rear.
Feel free to rip it to shreds.

Looks a bit like a shark. I like! Are the colours what you're planning, or just what you could pinch?

A bit like that but more inversed- I like it longer and lower on the bottom than on the top. I am trying to go for a more vintage look and what was taken for aerodynamics back then.-- I like the 30's lemans look but wanted 2 seats
I had never seen that type of nose bofore- is it standard Robin hood or a custom job- dont know if I like it or not yet

Looks like you are trying to emulate the american kurtis nosecone, I saw this one race at Coys Historic Festival, great on the straights, utterly outclassed on the corners Rescued attachment Kurtis.jpg

Mark,

Any pictures of the front suspension on that? Trying to work out what it is, but can't quite make it out.

I dont think you want to know, I think it was the one that crashed on the start/finish line!

It looks like a straight beam like a hotwheels toy car

pick your nose

i love the idea, the side drawing is great.

just a thought, have you tried the same shape with the bars running horizontal because vertical lines tend to make things look taller then they are, if you want the nose to look low go for horizontal.

Made up a foam model today, its a quicky but good for my visulization. The nose it a bit stubbier and rounder than I would like but still hits the mark pretty close. Changing the grill bars to horizontal may work which would allow them to curl around the sides to at least the begining of the hood scoop maybe longer ( I will have to sketch that one out to see).

The rear I am not sure about, I had intended to have the rear wings slope in the same arc as the rear deck lid but when putting the model together I lifted them up and liked it. remides me a bit of a mga- which actually is what the rear deck is sloped to match.
The windscreen should be sloped a bit more but I will not be able to set that in stone till I make a plastic one to put on and sit in the car and know for sure.
The curves on the passenger compartment sides are as planned/built.
All comments welcome.
Thanks

That looks very nice, except for one thing. I'm not sure the bonnet scoop is right given the overall curviness and old looks of the car. I appreciate you may have little choice in having one though.

The scoop should be curved on the sides as it goes a bit wider than it shows there. I have an intake manifold that is fairly high on the left side and a turbo on the right that needs clearance. I have considered making the hood scoop smaller and going with the mesh bubbles like the donkervort(spelling) use on there hood.

Given the rest of the car, whatever you decide should look quite nice indeed.
Actually, do you need to have the holes in the front? IE could you just have a nice curve to the bonnet, similar to the one the MGC had to clear the carbs?

Original plan was having the intercooler on the back right side over the foot well and feed fresh air in from the hood scoop and out through a side vent. With the slightly longer nose I may have room for it infront of the rad where it really should be. If thats the case then it can be closed in the front and maybe open at the rear..

Hi Dale............now im shure I have seen something very similar to your model.
Was in an early 60s yank car craft mag if my old memory is still working.
If I can drag myself up into the loft and dig it out I will post pics, think it was done as a design concept.

I bet you're having fun designing it in minature first! Looking great, but I would try the grill horizontally to make the front look lower and act as a contrast to the long thin nose cone.
