I've been wondering whether a Dutch auction would work here - the seller starts off at a fairly high price, then reduces it periodically (e.g. once per day) until either someone buys it or the price gets too low for the seller.

The potential buyer can either buy it at the current price, or wait until it gets lower, with the risk that someone else jumps in before him.

I think it could work...
